Over the years I have served hundreds of clients who were visiting NYC, my business model is perfect for out-of-towners who want may want minimal work setting up a shoot

Central Park

Central Park is by far the most popular location for family portraits in NYC. It also makes a great backdrop for romantic engagement and maternity photos.

FAQ’s for Travel photography in NYC

How Does it work?

Since most of my clients are visiting from out of town, I often hear some of these questions, I hope this helps:

You can book your appointment anytime, most of my clients book at least a couple of months in advance, but I’ve worked with many short notice clients, some even reaching out the same week of their visit/shoot.

I highly recommend sunset sessions whenever possible (starting about 2.5 hours before sunset).
If there are young children in your family, sunset is not necessarly the best option if it is close to thier bed time, in that case an early morning (8:30ish) start might be best.

Unless I am working with High School Seniors, most of my clients stick to the one outfit. For seniors a secondary outfit is recommended. We would find a place to change along our route (in a hotel or store).

Most of my Central Park sessions start by the Plaza Hotel and then head to Bethesda Fountain. I have many other locations in NYC that might be a better fit for your shoot, please reach out to discuss what you have in mind.

Your online gallery will be available online in about 2 weeks after your session. If your package includes any files those will be delivered digitally via Dropbox or something similar.

In case of rain I will do my best to reschedule you for another day during your visit (overcast days are great for shooting as long as it’s not actually raining).

Regardless of weather, if you need to postpone or cancel your session at any time that’s totally fine.. Just please be resourceful of my time and give me as much notice as possible. There is no deposit or cancellation fee.

“We had our family session done recently in Central Park and we’re very happy with how the pictures turned out. Chasing after a 2-yr-old for pictures is a tough job, but Roy was patient, easygoing, and just a wonderful photographer to work with. We had a really pleasant experience with Roy despite how crowded the park was that day. He’s awesome!”

☆☆☆☆☆ Review

I contacted Photography by Roy a few months prior to a NYC trip to plan a couples’ photo shoot. Roy was exceptionally responsive and understood exactly the type of photographs I was seeking. The day prior to the shoot I informed Roy that I intended to get engaged during our session. He quickly sent me a picture from his portfolio showing me a perfect and quiet location.

On the actual day of the shoot, Roy immediately made us feel comfortable and relaxed. That was so important to me since I’m not someone who typically enjoys being photographed. Roy captured my proposal magnificently! We walked to and were photographed in several really great locations. Roy was also very accommodating towards the end of the shoot when we requested to be photographed in a coffee shop.

We are elated with the final photographs which we received very promptly. There are so many exceptional ones. Roy is a super talented photographer and a very kind and engaging individual. I thoroughly enjoyed the time we spent with him. I highly recommend Roy for anyone searching for a great NYC photographer.
